Alternatives to Guardianship Trainer Guide and Curriculum

To educate Oregonians about the alternatives to guardianship, the Working Interdisciplinary Network of Guardianship Stakeholders has developed this training curriculum and train-the-trainer guidance on how to deliver the training to the general public. The goal of this training is to provide a broad overview of alternatives in three main areas of life – medical, financial, and social. After participating in this training, people considering seeking guardianship over another person will have basic information and resources with which to seek more in-depth information on alternatives that may be appropriate for the person they support. This, in turn, will reduce the number of people whose basic rights are taken away through the most restrictive guardianship process.
